XML Cleaner announce - filter and validate XML files

XML Cleaner is a new command line utility to filter and validate XML files.

Among unique features of this program is removal of superfluous XML namespaces.

[More:]

So XML Cleaner is a command line utility similar to xmllint.

XML Cleaner is written in Ada 95 programming language (thanks to Ada it is rather fast) and should be portable among many platforms. It is licensed under GPL-2 open source license.

Features include:

  • removes superfluous namespace declarations (optionally);
  • choice of several forms of empty tags;
  • XML validation (against the DTD);
  • Unicode support;
  • removal of comments;
  • removal of ignorable whitespace;
  • options to set output of XML declaration and standalone declaration;
  • options to output or not output <!DOCTYPE> declaration;
  • options to use single or double quotes in arguments;

More to implement: XML canonicalization, reformatting, XML charset recoding, XInclude processing, inplace file modification, etc.; XML Cleaner is to grow into a full featured command line XML filter and validator.
